What is the reason for Reiki Attunements in order to practice Reiki?
A Japanese Tendai Buddhist named Mikao Usui claimed to have discovered Reiki after long meditation, fasting, and prayer. Usui wrote that by mystical revelation he had gained the knowledge and spiritual power to apply and attune others to what is called Reiki. Mikao Usui said that he had the ability to enable people to enhance their access to the energy through certain initiations called Reiji-ho. Attunements to Reiki enhanced and refined a person's pre-existing ability to connect with Reiki. Through such initiations, students are said to become clearer channels for Reiki and thereby improve the quality of treatments that student (or practitioner) provides.
What
are the prerequisites for learning and practicing Reiki?
The prerequisites for Reiki training include an open
mind and open heart. Compassion, Professionalism and the desire to be of service
in facilitating healing are key components. It is equally important to have
great respect for the client, the process, the techniques, and the tradition.
What is different about Reiki is that Reiki is passed from Teacher to Student by
way of "Attunement" of the Reiki energy and symbols. Attunements are a "gift"
from the Universe of healing empowerment. Once "attuned to the Reiki energy it
is always "turned on" and running through you and available at all times.
Learning Reiki and putting it into practice in our daily lives helps to remind of of our natural connection to the Universe and all that is. It gives us the faith to let go of life as we know it and experience the natural flow of life's energies around us.
It is suggested that you first experience the healing of Reiki in order to guide your decision whether Reiki is for you. Why not schedule a session and see for yourself the wonderful "Universal Energy" of Reiki and experience what if feels like to be more balanced in Body, Mind, Spirit and Begin your Journey back to Wellness...
What can I expect
from Reiki Classes?
There are three training levels in the Usui Reiki
system. Levels I and II and Master. They are sometimes referred to as first,
second and third degrees. The training is given by a Reiki Master. In Reiki
training, Reiki history, attunements or initiations are passed on from the
Master teacher to the student along with other information such as ancient
healing symbols and instructions for teaching (at Master level).
Each level of Levels I and II generally will take a day or two depending on the student, while training to become a Reiki Master takes longer. Level I will teach you how to use Reiki on yourself and others. Level II will give you more symbols and the tools to work with the Reiki system and more information about becoming a Practitioner. Reiki Master level will further your interest in Reiki and how to become a Teacher if you so choose. Many traditional Reiki Masters will require the most serious students to do a year-long apprenticeship to ensure the commitment and dedication to Reiki is true. Some students move on to become Reiki Masters and Reiki Teachers. This is a personal choice, however most do continue.
Reiki training is useful for those who are interested in sending healing energy to themselves, others, their animals and the world around them. For those who are attuned to Reiki energy it is a powerful healing. Once you have received Reiki attunements of the Universe, you will begin to experience miraculous openings to the "White Light" energy.
The Five Elements
taught with each Reiki Level:

positions for self healing and healing others
Symbols used for healing
Meditation and ways of building your core energy for healing
Spiritual development and understanding the Universe around us.

How much does Reiki
Training Cost?
Since training can be taken either at a Reiki school,
healing arts center, or privately from a Reiki Master, the costs of training may
vary considerably. Levels I & II generally cost less than the Reiki Master
training as teacher training is quite a bit more extensive. Some teachers
require students to an Internship for a year before the student is able to move
on to the Master Level. Most private teachers offer classes that start at $100
on up. The price is individual to that teacher.
Is there
Certification upon Training Completion?
At each level of training, a certificate is given to the student. Once you have
been given your Reiki Level Certificates, some Reiki practitioners may then want
to join a professional organization, such as the International Association of
Reiki Professionals and others.
